Card Expiry Error
The Challenge
The user is trying to rent a car using an application but the credit card on file has expired.
Write them an error message so that they can correct the problem.
My Solution
When something goes wrong, the error message has to get it fixed. Quick. The primary aim of this error message is to clearly communicate (a) what went wrong and (b) what the user needs to do to fix it. The message is simple, direct, and clear. Payment issues can be a delicate issue, so this message absolves the user of blame by avoiding the personal pronoun “You” or “Your”.
